We are so excited to have you visit the salon! I’m going to give you a few pointers to maximize your time spent with us, and also guarantee you have the best visit possible.

Curly Hair People

At your appointment, we are going to cover all the basics for your curly hair - how to care for it, style, it and maintain those gorgeous locks. The best way to arrive for your first appointment is by showing up to the salon with the way you like your hair styled best. Defined curls, or rocked-out afro! This allows us to analyze your current techniques, and then offer new suggestions.

Color Changes

Have you been thinking about a color change? That’s so exciting for a colorist! While root touch-ups are our bread-and-butter, we always get happy when someone wants to “mix it up”. Things to think about - are you wanting to shift the entire base color? Or are you only wanting to add some lighter/brighter pieces, or even low-lights? One tool we have come to rely on is pictures of hair that you love (or even don’t love!), so we can discuss and anaylze together. Sometimes the communication gets lost in translation, so having a visual is crucial. I would take the time to screenshot pictures of hair that make you swoon, or head on over to Pinterest for a wide variety of images you can pin to an album.

New Cut

Are you bored with your current cut? Do you need to shake things up a bit? Let us help off you some suggestions! The most obvious is the removal of length. Long hair can easily become a nuisance once it starts getting stuck in your seatbelt. Sometimes it become like a blanket! You can still have long hair by removing some length. Perhaps you are interest in adding some layers? There are several types of layers - try to think about how many layers you might like - a little or a lot? We can create “flat” layers, or create a shape that contour the the round of your head. Ask your stylist what types of stylist options are available to new looks as well! Bangs are adorable, and a way to change it up.

FAQ:

Question: I heard it was better to arrive with dirty hair...is that true?

Answer: Haircolor has come a long way in the last ten years. We have much more gentle options. It used to be a theory that if people had dirty hair that the ammonia used wouldn’t strip as much natural hair. We now know that a clean canvas allows the hair color to work at optimum performance! In fact, clarifying the day before we color is an ideal scenario for a colorist.

Question: Does organic hair color really cover grays?

Answer: Absolutely! In fact, the longevity has proven even better than traditional, toxic color. They manufacture a cool additive called Hypercolor Accelerator Drops...it even increases processing time to less than 30 minutes! It’s 99% natural, and has over 10 organic oils. The shine it adds is incredible. Its unique formulation improves the wetting capacity of resistant grey hair color, while encapsulating hair color molecules to prevent premature oxidation. Once a gentle heat source is applied, the hair color process instantly speeds up with improved color saturation, shine and depth. Oway Hcolor is a professional ammonia-free hair color made with biodynamic, organic and fair trade ingredients. They do not contain ammonia, parabens, petrolatum, synthetic fragrance or artificial colorants. It’s a win-win!

Question: How long will my appointment take?

Answer: This depends on the nature of the service. If you have a lot of hair that is very dense, or is very long, then it could take 4+ hours. Generally speaking, grey coverage touch-ups can be in and out in 1 - 1.5 hours, but lightening up all over will average 2 - 4 hours. The good news? We have so many things to make your visit more comfortable, from a beverage bar offering tea, coffee, sparkling water and cookies, to have extra chargers around if your devices batteries start getting low.
